Phytotherapy: an alternative treatment for non-healing ulcers.

There are few reports in the literature on the effectiveness of complimentary therapies on chronic wounds. Use of an aloe vera gel resulted in full healing after treatments such as antibiotics, surgical debridement and skin grafting had failed.
J Wound Care. 2004 Apr;13(4):157-8.
Ann's NOTE:
(1995) After the first local recurrence my surgeon opened up the scar area from the tube (post-lumpectomy). She examined it for signs of cancer recurrence - there were none. She stitched it back up. The stitch burst almost immediately, and could not be resewn. I was (and am) allergic to almost all antibiotics so we were 'watching' this area.
After about 5 days, I just shoved a fingerful of aloe gel directly from a (more than five-year old) plant I had in the house. The wound closed up overnight.
My surgeon asked what I had done. I brought in some studies like the one above showing aloe can be used for wound healing. It really worked for me.
2/05 Here is what Ilene said:
I have been taking Aloe Vera juice to relieve my heartburn which it did
but it also had the happy side effect of reducing the fullness and
hardness of the affected breast so that 3 months after radiation, I was
able to wear bras comfortably again.
