ASCO 2006

ASCO 2006

Report by Ann Fonfa with contributions from other advocate volunteers

This is the first year the Annie Appleseed Project has ever had a booth. We decided to use a small education grant to provide information to the oncology community.

We brought four things with us to hand out:

1) Our newsletter ‘Random Thoughts’

2) Top Ten Reasons People with Cancer are using Complementary Therapies (back had URLs to locate local CAM practitioners and other useful information)

3) Meaningful Patient-centered Approach – abstract discussing our concept of studies to explore combinations of supportive elements to improve health

4) Postcard – Eat Fruits & Veggies (this discusses what to combine for health and includes our web address)

It was very popular with South and Central American doctors/nurses see more below.

ASCO offers a variety of helpful options for the advocate meeting participant. They have a patient advocacy booth prominently featured at the entrance to the exhibit hall (we had a separate booth).

The exhibit hall is filled with HUGE, very fancy booths from a variety of pharmaceutical companies.
