On Thursday, April 1, 2004 there were a series of pre-conference workshops with titles such as: Workshop 1.Detoxification Overview (Joseph Pizzorno, ND, Peter Bennett, ND, Walter J Crinnion, ND. Presenting an overview of the body’s detoxification mechanisms, how they are impacted by diet and lifestyle, and therapies to enhance detoxification function. Research looking at fasting, saunas and hydrotherapy were also discussed. (Hydrotherapy consists of alternating hot and cold towels on the chest and back). The topics included: Effects of Toxic Bowel Bacteria; Bowel Detoxification; Toxins in the Environment; Detoxification of Acetaminophen; Botanicals to Facilitate Liver Detoxification; etc. Workshop 2. Management of Obesity and Eating Disorders was presented by Alexander G. Schauss, PhD, FACN, CEDS, and Marie C. Shafe, EdD, PhD, CED. Remember we are NOT Doctors and have NO medical training.
