Julia is a breast cancer survivor and author of “Breast Cancer-the notebook” a reference guide that provides a foundation of information at the fingertips of the newly diagnosed, survivors and those wishing to take a preventative view from age 18 and up.
Julia actively pursues health and wellness through running, cross-training, Pilates and a vegetarian diet. She finds joy and meaning in interaction with the widows and orphans in the community and teaches exercise to the over eighty crowd while supporting several orphans and foster children.
When Julia heard the words “breast cancer”, she began doing extensive research to “get her arms around” what she would have to deal with. Shortly thereafter, she traveled to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where she was met by a highly skilled team, who after several tests and analysis suggested a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy.
After her surgery, Julia took the road less traveled and opted not to have treatments but instead implemented a plan of care consisting of juicing and super foods to feed and heal her immune system, prayer, exercise, and making her home environment as clean and green as possible.
Every day Julia would research everything she could find on breast cancer and the immune system. The result was notebooks filled with data that has now been transferred to her book, Breast Cancer-the Notebook—a compilation of easy to understand facts at the fingertips of the reader.
Julia’s doctor, Merrick I. Ross, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the top surgical oncologists in the country has endorsed this book and written the introduction.
Julia looks forward with great enthusiasm to the next phases of this project; taking the book global with multiple translations and cultural considerations with her message to educate with encouragement and her heart is to fund an initiative to help individuals meet financial and emotional needs while trying to get well from cancer.
Julia has appeared on Fox News with Dr. Manny Alvarez, NBC6 South Florida Today Show, WCBS880 AM New York. Her books has been featured in Vogue, Shape and Natural Health Magazines and she has had numerous appearances at fortune 500 companies, associations, churches, women’s groups and high schools.
Julia is acting as volunteer meeting planner for the Annie Appleseed Project's annual educational conference.
