Nutrition & Pancreatic Ca

Nutritional Science Research Group and the Cancer Biomarkers Research Group

in NCI's Division of Cancer Prevention, is now available on the web. According to the Executive Summary, "Recent epidemiological and experimental studies suggest that pancreatic cancer may be a form of cancer that is preventable. The NCI's 2002 Strategic Plan for Addressing the Recommendations of the Pancreatic Cancer Progress Review Group highlighted the need to evaluate environmental risk factors and gene-environment interactions and to identify biomarkers of early disease.

Thus, it is timely to pose questions about how dietary factors and/or nutritional status affect the pathophysiology of cancer of the pancreas."
