#1176 Patients who smoke during concurrent chemoradiation for limited small cell lung cancer have decreased survival (excerpts)
GMM Videtic, L Stitt
Dana-Farber Cancer Center Inst., Boston, MA; London Regional Cancer Centre, London, On, Canada
Results: Median overall survival non-smoker (18 months), smoker (13.6 months). 2-year survival non-smoker (28 %), smoker (13.6 %) and 5-year survival non-smoker (8.9 %), smoker (4 %).
Conclusion: Patients who continue to smoke during therapy have poorer survival rates than those who do not but this is not attributable to smokers having poorer tolerance for treatment.
