Remarks by Ann Fonfa, Pres, Annie Appleseed Project

Ann Fonfa's comments after the December 2006 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium

After attending the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and seeing just two posters (no presentations) on CAM at this very prestigious event, I am greatly perturbed.

The studies that indicate patient use of CAM, at 60-80%, generally show that women (and men) with breast cancer are among the TOP users.

Yet almost no information was available at this event for oncologists.

So when they go back to their respective communities they have gained no new information to help their patients with CAM choices.

That is awful, and in direct contrast to the increased knowledge on chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy.
