There is a Chinese herb called Yunnanpaiyao(spelling varies but this is also how it sounds)that can reduce the bleeding and bruising often suffered after surgery. Ann used it for 5 of her 7 surgeries. It greatly limited bruising.
We also know from studies that Pantothenic Acid or Vitamin B5 can speed wound healing and increase protein synthesis. Published in The International Journal of Vitamin and Nutrition Research.
Iron can be detrimental, Vitamin C, helpful. Copper, magnesium and manganese have shown to enhance repair as well.
Wounds treated with SOD (superoxide dismutase) can heal better, stronger and quicker according to a recent article in Life Extension Magazine, September 1999. www.lef.org
NOTE: Very few studies have been done on humans. Most evidence comes from in vitro (test tube) and some animal studies.
